All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga

International Book Fair

attended by the devotees of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math

Veracruz, Mexico

6-14 September 2006

The devotees of Veracruz offer the fortunate souls the opportunity to make their first connection with Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga.

brahmanda bhramite kona bhagyavan jiva
guru-krsna-prasade paya bhakti-lata-bija

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrta, Madhya 19.151)

"According to the thread of their karma, the living beings are wandering throughout many species of life in the universe. Among all such wandering souls, one for whom the fortune of spiritual merit (sukrti) has arisen by which devotion is facilitated, gains the seed of the creeper of devotion by the grace of Guru and Krishna; that seed is good faith (sraddha)."

Our stall can be seen at the top right of this picture (above).

An impressive display of books of all languages, countries and subject matters, attracting visitors in so many different directions.

Srila Sridhar Maharaj writes in Sri Guru and His Grace:

We are in the midst of different forces that are drawing us, attracting us towards different directions, so proper guidance is the most valuable and the most important thing for all of us. If we accept direction from anywhere and everywhere, we will be misguided. Therefore, we must be careful to get proper direction. That direction has been given by Krishna in the Bhagavad-gita (4.34):

tad viddhi pranipatena
pariprasnena sevaya
upadeksyanti te jnanam
jnaninas tattva-darsinah

"To understand transcendental knowledge, you must approach a self-realized soul, accept him as your spiritual master, and take initiation from him. Inquire submissively and render service unto him. Self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you, for they have seen the truth."

Some of the devotees actively canvass the book fair attendees...

...while others stay at the book stall to speak to interested inquirers.
