All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga

Sri Nabadwip Dham Parikrama

Day Four

Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, Nabadwip

Day One | Day Two | Day Three | Day Four

2 March 2007

The last day of Sri Nabadwip Dham Parikrama began with stormy showers in the early morning that continued until the afternoon. Despite the rain and cold the devotees proceeded happily with the parikrama, but once reaching the Temple of Sri Sri Gaura Gadadhar in Champahati, were called back by Srila Gurudev, who was anxious that they would not become ill by walking in the rain. After a programme and breakfast Prasadam the devotees returned to the Math.

Later on that day, Srila Gurudev spontaneously decided to come and speak to the pilgrims in the nat mandir.

Srila Gurudev began his lecture by reminding us of our great fortune and great opportunity.

"Srila Guru Maharaj and the Lord are so merciful. Sri Krishna, Mahaprabhu Chaitanyadev, Nityananda Prabhu are so merciful to us, they have given us the opportunity to do Parikrama of Nabadwip Dham, otherwise it was not possible... Jivera svarupa haya Krsnera nitya das, Krsnera tatastha-sakti bhedabheda-prakasa. All the jiva-souls are really servitors of Sri Krishna. This is the real identity of every jiva-soul. But they are forgetting. They are polluted by the illusory environment; it is called mahamaya. And we are seeing that: anything in our behavior and in what we are doing, we cannot avoid that association of mahamaya. But we are steady to avoid it and want to clean our own self from the illusory environment. And it is possible. Bhagavan Chaitanyadev said, 'Chant the Holy Name of Lord Krishna!' So many Names appear in this material world, and by the grace of Lord Krishna with any of the Holy Names you can clean your own self.

cheto darpana marjanam bhava maha davagni nirvapanam
sreyah kairava chandrika vitaranam vidya vadhu jivanam
anandambudhi vardhanam prati padam purnamrtasvadanam
sarvatma snapanam param vijayate sri krsna sankirtanam

"Mahaprabhu has first given honour to Krishna sankirtanam this way: cheto darpana marjanam. First our mind, our cover of the transcendental form, the jiva-soul, will be in a clean position, and then we will see our proper existence. The mirror, if it is very dirty we cannot see in the mirror our own face, our own figure. But when it is clean, then we can see ourself within that mirror. We are the jiva-souls, we are the servitors of Lord Krishna, we are the members of the transcendental world; everything will appear to us when we will chant the Holy Name of Lord Krishna. Param vijayate. For that, Mahaprabhu said this is the super-possibility. Super-opportunity we will get through that."

The devotees gathered eagerly around Srila Gurudev's lotus feet, as always anxious to hear and try to understand his divine message imparted through his sweet words and generous mood of distribution.

tava kathamrtam tapta-jivanam
kavibhir iditam kalmasapaham
sravana-mangalam srimad-atatam
bhuvi grnanti ye bhurida janah

"My Lord, the nectar of Your words and the descriptions of Your activities are the life and soul of those who are always aggrieved in this material world. These narrations are transmitted by exalted personalities, and they eradicate all sinful reactions. Whoever hears these narrations attains all good fortune. These narrations are broadcast all over the world and are filled with spiritual power. Those who spread the message of Godhead are certainly the most munificent welfare workers."
