Annual Preaching Engagement

New Year's Eve Inner Faith Peace Vigil
of Santa Cruz, USA

December, 31 2007

This year, the gathering was held at the Holy Cross Church near downtown Santa Cruz. A variety of religious groups and representatives from the community gathered to share their traditions and beliefs with each other and commemorate peace. For the devotees, this is an auspicious event because it is a gathering of the pious, and an opportunity for us to introduce and expose people to the mission of Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj.

Upon entering the building, guests light a candle for a New Year's blessing. For the past four years, the devotees from the Soquel Seva Ashram have been invited to attend an annual Inner Faith Vigil for Peace.

The devotees then came up to the podium to present the Mahamantra.
In brief, Sarvabhavana Prabhu spoke of the glories of the Holy Name. He also spoke about how we are not these bodies, we are spirit souls and our intrinsic nature is to serve the Lord. We should know our relationship with God, as we are His servants and should not use God for our mundane purposes. He then invited everyone to participate in chanting, and shared his gratitude for the invitation.

Afterwards, the devotees went to downtown Santa Cruz to engage in Sri Harinam Sankirttan...
