The programme had been going on since the early morning. Soon after the arrival of the other devotees, the Nagar Sankirttan began.
Sripad Acharyya Maharaj led the Parikrama to several holy places related to Sri Nityananda Prabhu's Divine Pastimes.

This is the entrance gate to Sri Nityananda Janmastam, the house of Sri Hadai Pandit and Srimati Padmavati Devi and the actual location of birth of their divine son.
Inside, hundreds of devotees hope for an opportunity to pay their obeisances and circumumbulate the beautiful deity of Sri Nityananda Prabhu.

The parikrama proceeds in jubilation...

Among the many holy places visited is Sri Bankarai Temple. Bankarai is actually a name of Krishna, but it is used here for Sri Nityananda Prabhu.
The sankirttan goes on through the village, led by the honourable Sannyasis.

Young and old dance to the divine sound of the transcendental Holy Name!
The residents of the village stop their daily chores to look on, and some join the Parikrama all the way back to the Temple.

Virchandrapur, presently named after Sri Nityananda Prabhu's own son, is a beautiful rural village where it seems that time stands still.
All is auspicious in this holy place; even the animals seem to have an appreciation for the sound of kirttan!

Meanwhile the village streets are lined with stalls, adding to the colour and flair of the festival.
From religious parapharnalia to snacks and sweets of all sorts, all add to the festive atmosphere!
