PRONUNCIATION:
For Bengali pronunciation
1) To help with pronunciation of transliterated texts please refer to the 'Guide to Reading and Pronouncing Bengali' extracted from the Math's Saranagati publication.
1b) The Saranagati book by Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur is in Bengali. It is recorded, with many of the kirtans sung by Bengali Kamal Krishna Prabhu. Listen to the kirtans while following the text of the book to get a better feel of pronunciation.
1c) While reading the text, please hear the recordings accompanying several of the kirtans in the web-edition of this Kirtan Guide on kirtan.site, many of which are sung by Srila Gurudev Srila Govinda Maharaj, and by Srila Guru Maharaj Srila Sridhar Maharaj. (In the Index, kirtans marked by a 'music note' icon include such linked audio.)
For Sanskrit pronunciation, Srila Gurudev mentioned that Srila Guru Maharaj is one of only two people he knew who could perfectly pronounce Sanskrit.
Hear Srila Guru Maharaj and follow the Sanskrit text of this short vandana.
Additionally, examples can be found throughout Srila Guru Maharaj's talks, for instance within this one talk of Srila Guru Maharaj given on Nrsimha Chaturdasi 1983, at these timings: 5:00–5:22,
6:08–6:15, 8:20–8:35,
10:00–10:12,
10:57–11:00.
MELODY/TUNES:
To help with melody, please hear recordings of the earlier 8th Edition of the Kirtan Guide sung by Manasa Krishna Prabhu of Australia.
CONFIDENTIAL KIRTANS:
On special days such as Radhastami, devotees can follow the lead of Srila Gurudev Srila Govinda Maharaj, and Srila Guru Maharaj Srila Sridhar Maharaj, by playing their recordings (where available) of the particular high kirtans that we don't ourselves lead. Please see kirtan.site
