Preaching with Sripad Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj in Dogachia Village

Programme of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, Nabadwip, 7 April 2006

We pulled up to a nice polished road. There were about ten villagers waiting for us with mrdangas, karatalas, and flags. We all jumped out of the bus, turned the speakers on, and the kirttan began. For twenty minutes we walked through small neighbourhoods waving at the passersby and jumping about enthusiastically.

It was funny because the devotees that were playing the mrdangas were happily dancing. They gave me the impression of Hare Krishna rock stars by the way they moved their heads, swung their legs in the air, and followed the beat. This urged the group on and Sripad Acharyya Maharaj chanted even louder. There was one Indian lady that kept grabbing my hand and asking me to dance and chant with her. I finally gave up and was forced to yell Haribol! Haribol! It was nice to be part of such a wholehearted group.

Just after disembarking from the bus.

This little Vaishnava helped me the entire time. If I needed someone to carry something or set something up, he was right behind me. It is great to be able to communicate with the devotees without speaking the same language.

Beautiful Indian sunset.
Bearing the shining saffron flag of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math's nagar sankirttan party.
Along the way, we came upon a small mandir.

The first stop we made was a fifteen minute stop at a local mandir.

Sri Radha and Sri Govinda.
Sudhev Prabhu leading the kirttan.
At the same mandir, to the right is Durga Devi.
An afternoon parikrama to Prahlad Prabhu's house.
