• Today is the traditional Visvakarma-puja in Bengal. Visvakarma is considered to be the Deva in charge of construction, machinery, etc. Following local custom, machinery, tools and instruments -- including vehicles -- are offered Maha Prasadam and puja in honour of Visvakarma. No construction or works take place for two days.

The ceremony took place at our Vrindavan Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math and Mission.

We require specific articles to execute worship, such as incense, flowers, lamp, etc. Similarly, if we wish to realise the supersubjective plane, there are three specific necessities: pranipata, pariprasna, and seva. Without these three ingredients, our search will be imitative, unsubstantial and farcical.

Pranipata means 'to fall flat near the feet of the worshipable': "I have come to the end of all enterprise with my previous plane of life; I could find nothing there to fulfil my life's objectives. Finally, after 'completing my errands,' I have come here." This is the practical symptom of pranipata.

Pariprasna means 'sincere enquiry.' Honest and sincere enquiry is allowed. The spirit of such enquiry is, "I want to know how I can be utilised in any way. All the charm for living elsewhere is over. My sole inquiry is 'How can I be utilised here?' "

And seva, service, is the all-important factor. "I have come to serve and to be utilised for the cause of the subject about which I have enquired. I have not come to take anything from here. I have come only to serve, with no other motive."

All the devotees are staying in the same retreat centre as past years, about a half hour outside of Moscow, in the woods and next to a lovely lake. "Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu came to direct us to our real interest within: 'You do not know your own heart. You are a foreigner to your own heart and its demand. There is a wealth within your heart -- try to find it: eliminate the foreign things, and you will find your heart to be a Temple of Krishna. With the help of a proper guide, search your own heart and you will find Krishna there. This is not a foreign thing to you. Every heart is a Temple of the Lord. It is your property, it is your home. "The destination has been settled, but how shall I reach it? When shall I reach it? Those who come to my aid to take me there--they are my masters, my Gurus: Siksa-gurus and Diksa-guru. Whoever helps me to go there is my Guru. He is my guide who will help me to reach my located destination, the station of my innermost hankering....

"He has helped me to locate my destination; he has educated me how and what to aspire after, and how to reach that highest aspired shelter. I have attained all these things through him. He is my all-in-all in life, the master of my life. There is a boat, and he is the helmsman (guru-karna-dharam). I have surrendered unto him, I have accepted him. I have boarded his boat and he is taking me towards the goal of my life."

• Audio of Srila B.R. Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj: Today is the Fourteenth Anniversary Disappearance Festival of Srila Guru Maharaj, Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj. On this day we start a new section on the Web of audio files of Srila Guru Maharaj. Often technology is taken for granted. However, this capacity to 'directly' hear the spoken voice of the saints, even after their departure, can only be the grace of Sriman Mahaprabhu in this age of Kali. Indeed He allowed this technology, so let us all try to use it for Him and His own.

Prabhu Premavatar writes: "As this is indeed a special day, I thought it would be a good time to launch the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math's Danish site http://dansk.scsmath.org. The site is already fully functional. It has articles by our affectionate Guardians, songs (with translations and MP3 files), pictures, info on activities in Scandinavia, a small glossary, calendar and several other functions -- for example, a new quote from our Guardians is posted daily automatically. Some of the texts there are in Swedish and Norwegian, but these are clearly marked, and mostly understandable to the Danish-speaking public.
